Radio gig will hit the right chord for Borders youngsters

Radio Borders listeners between the ages of 16 and 18 are being urged to take part in a new music and science related initiative being run jointly by the Scottish Government and Bauer Radio Events. The Sound Science concert will take place in Perth on the 26th of April and aims to give this age group direct experience of music production by capturing a live gig for radio. SNP MSP Christine Grahame, who has herself a wide range of musical tastes and has in the past supported local musicians through her involvement with JAM, a community based music charity, said:

“This is a major initiative by the Scottish Government aimed at encouraging an interest in science and vocational experience in Scotland’s home grown music industry.

“I hope young Borderers will be enthused to take an active part as a member of the backstage crew for what will be an exciting and memorable concert and in doing so recognise that studying science can open the door to many exciting career opportunities.

“I am certain those who take part will be inspired to go on and develop their science skill and knowledge to enable them to ultimately take a full time role in this exciting industry.”

Sound Science takes place on Sunday 26th April at City nightclub in Perth. The teenage audience will be brought in from right across the country to see the show. Tickets are free, but can only be won via competitions on Radio Borders and also online at www.sound-science.co.uk
